Over 460 staff of the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio, gathered to commemorate NASA's 50th Anniversary on October 1, 2008. The giant number "50" was formed inside Glenn's historic Hangar that was built in 1942 at what was then known as the NACA Aircraft Engine Research Laboratory.
